A six-branch UK estate agency was losing click-through on Rightmove against larger competitors with more polished listing photography. Twelve weeks after switching to VizCraft for editing, their hero-photo CTR improved 31% and average days-on-market dropped 9.
The challenge
The client is a six-branch independent estate agency in the UK East Midlands, listing 60–90 properties per month across owner-managed and lettings stock. In Q4 2025, their owner reviewed Rightmove analytics and noticed listings were under-performing on hero-photo click-through — particularly against two larger corporate competitors operating in the same postcodes.
The internal photography workflow was sound: each branch had a dedicated property photographer, the cameras and lenses were appropriate, and shoots were properly scheduled. The bottleneck was editing. Junior team members did single-exposure correction in Lightroom, the quality was inconsistent across branches, and bright UK days produced photos with blown-out windows or dark interiors depending on how each editor handled the exposure.
The competing corporates were running HDR-blended interiors and day-to-dusk hero exteriors on premium listings. Side-by-side on a Rightmove results page, the client's photos looked flat — and that was costing clicks.
The brief
The agency wanted to move editing entirely external, with three requirements:
- Consistent HDR-blended interiors across every listing, every branch, with no internal staff time spent on editing.
- Day-to-dusk conversion as standard on hero exteriors for listings priced above £400K.
- Same-day turnaround so listings could go live on the day of shoot.
What we did
VizCraft set up a dedicated UK account manager for the client and ran a 1-week paid pilot on a single branch's listings. After the pilot validated quality, we onboarded all six branches in two-branch batches over weeks 2–6. By week 6, every listing photograph from every branch was flowing through VizCraft.
- HDR blending applied to every interior photograph — typically 12–18 shots per property.
- Day-to-dusk conversion applied to the hero exterior on listings priced above £400K.
- Object removal (cables, bins, signage) added on request — averaged 1.4 removals per listing.
- Delivery as full-resolution JPEGs with sRGB colour profile, Rightmove and Zoopla portal-ready.
- Same-day turnaround (within 8 hours of shoot upload) on all standard work.
The results
Over a 12-week measurement window (84 listings, comparable to a prior-period control of the agency's own 12-week baseline), the agency saw three measurable shifts on Rightmove:
- Hero-photo CTR up 31% (Rightmove "Property page views ÷ Search appearances" metric).
- Average time-on-market dropped 9 days across the 84 listings in the window.
- Editing cost per image dropped from an estimated £2.10 (loaded internal time) to £0.48 + £2.40 day-to-dusk where used.
Why it worked
Three things made the change work that often do not in editing outsourcing arrangements:
- A 1-week paid pilot validated quality before the full roll-out — the agency could see results on real listings before committing every branch.
- A single dedicated UK account manager (versus a ticket system) meant style decisions stuck. The AM learned the agency's preference for warm-toned interiors and applied it consistently.
- Same-day turnaround meant listings went live without delay — outsourced editing did not become a new bottleneck.
What this means for similar UK agencies
For UK estate agencies competing on listing photography quality (which is most of them in 2026), the maths from this case study generalises:
- Outsourced HDR-blended interiors typically costs less than internal editing once loaded staff time is included.
- Day-to-dusk hero exteriors are the single highest-CTR upgrade on premium listings — at £2.40 per image, the payback is fast.
- The hard parts are consistency and turnaround, not technique. A dedicated UK account manager + same-day turnaround makes outsourcing actually viable.
We tried bringing editing in-house twice. Both times we couldn't keep the quality consistent across the team without paying more per image than VizCraft charges. Switching to outsourced editing was the single biggest change we made to our marketing this year.
